United Alliance Services Selected to Provide OSHA Safety Training at Massachusetts Maritime Academy

United Alliance Services (UASC) will be presenting all of the Freshmen Safety Training classes at Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA). The 2013/2014 freshman class consists of over 400 students, and in addition to the required safety training each student will have the option to continue on to take an OSHA 10 -hour General Industry course and receive their accompanying certification.

MMA Freshmen spend an entire semester (six weeks) at sea, and therefore completing this safety training during their first semester is vital and timely. UASC and MMA have worked together to craft a curriculum that addresses the specific needs of the cadets as they prepare for their sea term aboard the T.S. Kennedy.  The freshmen safety training program is an essential part of the overall freshmen curriculum at MMA. MMA prides itself on its track record of preparing its cadets for “well-paying, career track positions” in the maritime industry post-graduation. UASC is proud to be part of this great tradition.

From the MMA website:

“Through Sea Terms and Cooperative Education Programs, our undergraduates log 6 months of invaluable career experience during their 4-year pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree, often while traveling to a dozen or more countries.  Upon graduation, our cadets are distinctly qualified to lead as licensed maritime professionals, skilled business managers, ship safety officers, commissioned military officers and more.

The United States Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration recognizes the Academy as one of six state maritime colleges approved to prepare graduates for federal license examination as third mate, ocean vessels, unlimited tons, or third assistant engineer, steam or motor, unlimited horsepower.”
