MA based Consultants & Upper Cape Tech Train OSHA & EPA HazWoper

United Alliance Services Corporation of East Wareham, Massachusetts and Upper Cape Regional Technical School in Bourne, Massachusetts announces their partnership aiming to help educate and certify employers and employees in the community on OSHA and EPA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Reponses (HazWoper) Standards.

Valerie Wakefield, President/CEO, of United Alliance Services, said she “heard loud and clear the concerns of Boston, South Shore and the Cape Cod regional community that there are not enough skilled workers in the areas of OSHA and EPA HazWoper compliance” and wanted to take a positive step forward in making sure the need is met.  “I heard from general and construction industry that they needed help and needed it now, not down the road, in order to meet government compliance to compete in future contracts” Valerie continued.

United Alliance forged this partnership with Upper Cape Tech to bring some of its skilled-labor training programs central to Boston’s South Shore. United Alliance will bring their professional instructional staff, highly skilled in occupational health and safety compliance systems and technology, to the Upper Cape’s Continuing Education Department starting in 2013.

Valerie Wakefield, called the partnership “unmatched” because local technical schools are a primary outlet for state and federal educational resources to assist the local communities in expanding their industry capabilities and the private sector often offers the best resources and current technologies to meet industry’s needs. Wakefield, a small local business owner herself in the private sector for nearly 10 years, and a certified woman owned business, WBE, said she “understands the need for community programs to support local industry and to grow educational programs to fit industry’s needs at affordable costs”.

“We see this as a new precedence in government collaboration and the key is we are meeting the needs of the business community. Our alliance with Upper Cape Regional Technical School and their excellent continuing education program and workforce development department will afford us and them the ability to provide general industry and the construction industry the training and educational opportunities needed for the future”, Wakefield continued.
