The Injury Tracking Application (ITA) is going to be available for employers to begin using August 1, 2017. There was some delay in getting the ITA up and running.  Back in June, OSHA announced that the ITA was not going to be ready for the proposed July 1, 2017 compliance deadline.

How Will Employers Use the ITA?

Employers who are required to submit their injury and illness information will be able to enter that data through the ITA which is a secure website. Those who would like to enter their company’s information directly into the web form may do so. This is a good option for companies who don’t have a high volume of information to submit. Alternatively, employers can upload a CSV file if they have a bulk of information to submit, or if they have multiple establishments. Also, OSHA promises that for those companies who use electronic applications to track their incident data may use API to connect their system to the ITA and submit the data automatically that way.  Here are the links to instructions for the CSV file and API.

ITA Reporting Requirements By Size and Industry

Over the next two years, the new reporting requirements will be phased in.  All covered establishments should submit  the data from the completed 2016 Form 300A by December 1, 2017. Electronic submission of this data will become available August 1, 2017. Employers in 67 different high-risk industries with 20-249 employees are required to submit their injury and illness summary, Form 300A, to OSHA electronically. All employers with 250 or more employees in industries covered by the recordkeeping regulation must submit information from their 2016 Form 300A electronically.
