Chapter 33 of the New York City Building Code requires anyone who has the responsibility of erecting and/or dismantling supported scaffolds more than 40 feet high to complete an approved 32-hour training course. NYC DOB Code also requires certified personnel to maintain a current certification with an 8-hour Suspended Scaffold Supervisor Refresher Training course every four years. This 8-hour course is intended for any individual who has previously completed a 32HR Rigging/Foreman Suspended Scaffold Training course. Each participant in the course must have a current and valid 32-hour Suspended Scaffold ID and certification. Completion of this 8-hour course allows suspended scaffold supervisors to maintain their certification and license for four more years. Training is available in English ONLY.
Students will learn the operation of scaffold equipment such as motors; motor safety features; knot tying; fall protection; self-rescue; outrigger setup; use of other rigging devices; tie-backs; and proper use of ladders. All participants will be issued a full-color photo certificate of completion upon conclusion of the training. This certificate is valid for four years only.
All employees who work on suspended scaffolds and are required to maintain a 32 hour Suspended Scaffold certification.
