This four hour course provides information about the control of hazardous energy and work under the protection of a Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) permit. The intent of the course is to provide information on LOTO practices, and the significance of LOTO devices.
Lesson objectives include identifying the purpose of OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.147, reasons commonly cited for failing to act in accordance with an OSHA-compliant LOTO program, operations during which the OSHA standard on control of hazardous energy apply, equipment or operations to which the OSHA standard does not apply, criteria that must be met in an OSHA-compliant LOTO program, criteria that must be met by all LOTO devices, requirements for the placement and removal of LOTO devices, examples of the LOTO training requirements as described by the OSHA standard, and examples of LOTO procedure inspection requirements.
