May 2018 Workplace Safety Events & Courses
OSHA 10 Hour Construction, April 30-May 1, 2018 (UASC- Wareham, MA)
OSHA 10 Hour Construction certification is mandatory for all workers on all municipal and state construction projects in Massachusetts, as well as other states. Don’t limit yourself by not having this vital OSHA certification. The OSHA 10 Construction Outreach course is a 2-day course that covers: intro to OSHA, the focus four hazards, trenching and excavating, material handling, scaffolds, personal protective equipment (PPE), among other topics. OSHA 30 Hour Construction, April 30- May 3, 2018 (UASC- Wareham, MA)
General contractors, foremen and construction health and safety personnel- ensure the safety of your workers and reduce workers compensation claims by completing your OSHA 30 Hour Construction certification. This four day course will cover the OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction standards in depth, including the focus four hazards. Attendees will learn about health and safety programs. Upon completion of this course, attendees will receive their OSHA 30 Construction certification.

2nd International Symposium to Advance Total Worker Health, May 8-11 (Bethesda, MD)
The theme of this year’s symposium is Work & Well-Being: How Safer, Heathier Work can Enhance Well-Being. The week will include keynote speakers, presentations from leaders in the industry, and informal workshops. 40 Hour Hazwoper & Annual 8-Hour Refresher, May 14-18, 2018 (UASC-Wareham, MA)
We are offering both the 40 Hour Hazwoper and 8 Hour Annual Refresher this week, so send your new hires and get your refresher done all in one fell-swoop! The Hazwoper standard applies to five groups of employers and their employees. Water. Rest. Shade. Keep Workers Safe in the Heat, July Safety Initiative
Mid-summer make a point to remind everyone about heat stress illness and injuries with informative tool box talks and safety initiatives. Though your permanent workers may think they have acclimated to working in the heat and gotten their battle rhythm of work, water, rest & shade down, don’t let them become complacent. Also, newcomers will be starting fresh. Changes in work tasks and environment are another concern to be aware of as your workers transition to new jobsites through the summer. 24 Hour Fall Protection –EM 385 1-1, July 16-18, 2018 (UASC- Wareham, MA)
This in-depth Fall Protection – 24 Hour EM 385 training course is designed for those in a leadership position who must also serve as the competent person and supervise other contractors and employees working at an elevated level.
Attendees will learn practical solutions to difficult fall protection problems using appropriate tools and equipment. Any fall protection equipment that is required will be demonstrated during class; however, students can bring their own personal fall equipment to class for both demonstration and use.
Participants will be required participate in Personal Fall Arrest Systems training (hands-on exercises), which may include: inspection procedures, donning procedures, fit test, selection, application and care of equipment.
